Omaha Masters Swimming USMS Club # 002-OMAH |
Professionally Coached by Todd Samland, 1994 United States Masters Coach of the Year
What
happens if the weather is looking a little dicey? Well if you are not sure, call (402) 554-2346. That is the office phone
number for Todd at UNOmaha. The voice mail will be updated 30 minutes prior to the start of practice. If you hear the normal
"If you like to swim..." message, we must be having practice! It is not often that we cancel practice but it happens
every once in a long while. Normal swim schedule. M-F, 6:00-7:00 AM. Sat 7:00-8:00 AM.

Pool updated from Todd
Good Morning Swimmers,
As a coaching friend says to me on occasion, "this is a delightful challenge." We have another week out
of the water. On the bright side practices will be easy for the first couple of weeks as we get back into swimming shape
(no 90% sets). I miss you all terribly and look forward to having us back into our routine. Let me know if you
have any questions.
Have a fantastic weekend,
Todd

Pool still closed :(
Message to Todd Samland, today, 24 September
2009... stay tuned...
Todd, They are going to need a few more days on the flooring project. We were hoping it would be finished by Friday of this week,
unfortunately that isn’t possible. They are nearly finished with the actual pool deck except for the odd corners and
they still need to seal a good portion of that area. The women’s locker room is about a 1/3 done, that should go relatively
fast as there is not as many angles to cut in that area. As soon as they give me the go ahead to use it again I’ll contact
you first thing. Jim

Pool status - taking longer than planned
Update from Jim Krueger, at CSM Wednesday 16 September: "I met with
our Director of Engineering / Campus Facilities. He just came from a meeting with the project contractor. The pool deck is
¾ finished and the locker rooms about a ¼ finished. The project is going to need approximately 5-6 additional
days beyond this Friday to complete. Originally the plan was to do one area and then move to the other, but after checking
to see how quick the floor was sealing and setting up with the current airflow it was advised we keep everything as dry as
possible to aid in the curing process. I’ll keep you posted on progress and a re-opening date. "

POOL CLOSED FOR TWO WEEKS
REMINDER: Starting Tuesday, September 8 the pool will be closed for two
weeks. During this time the pool deck will be receiving and improved surface – ceramic
tile. During that time we will not be able to swim. Once the pool deck is ready we will be swimming but
the locker rooms will then be under renovation for new ceramic tile. During that time the men will use an alternate
space (upstairs restroom) to change and the women will get the use of the locker room that is not under renovation. Because
we are missing half of a month everyone will be receiving a $15 credit towards the fees for the next month or next quarter.
